Ingredients

  • Flour 600 g
  • Butter 200 g
  • Sugar 200 g
  • Egg 1
  • Maple syrup 1 dl
  • Ground cinnamon 2 tsp
  • Ground ginger 2 tsp
  • Ground cloves 1 tsp
  • Grated orange zest 2 tsp
  • Baking soda 2 tsp
  • Water 1 dl

Instructions

  1. Combine butter, sugar, maple syrup, spices and orange zest in a saucepan.
  2. Heat gently, stirring until butter is melted, then let cool.
  3. Add baking soda dissolved in water, the egg and flour.
  4. Knead until smooth and uniform.
  5. Cover and rest overnight in a cool place.
  6. Roll the dough very thin and cut desired shapes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes.
