Cadzow Butter Biscuits are small treasures of Scottish tradition — simple, crisp, and as genuine as the land they come from. These are savory butter biscuits from the Highlands, traditionally served alongside tea, cheese, or soups. Their crumbly texture and rich buttery aroma make them irresistible, while the caraway seeds add a rustic touch reminiscent of old countryside recipes.
Long ago, such biscuits were shared as a sign of hospitality, often accompanied by a toast of goodwill. Fittingly, this recipe opens with the words of King George IV, who in 1822 dedicated this blessing to Scotland:
“Health to the Chieftains and Clans; and God Almighty bless the Land of Cakes.”
A toast that tastes of home, tradition, and sincere simplicity.A toast that tastes of home, tradition, and sincere simplicity.
